Is it necessary to remove all the paint, or can some remain on the surface?

In most cases, it’s best to remove as much paint as possible to allow the brickwork to breathe and restore its natural appearance. However, it’s not always necessary — or even advisable — to remove every last trace of paint, especially on older or fragile bricks.

The goal is always to achieve a clean, even finish without damaging the surface. Sometimes, a light residue or tint may remain in deeper pores of the brick — this is completely normal and often adds a more natural, aged look.

During your free test patch, I’ll show you exactly how your brickwork responds and explain what level of removal is safe and realistic for your wall. The end result is always balanced, professional, and sympathetic to the condition of your brickwork — not forced or overdone.
